At Ormiston Meadows Academy in KS1 and KS2, we follow the Cornerstones Curriculum which is based on inspirational learning activities which take place in a classroom environment that allows children to learn in a way that motivates and interests them.
Cornerstones provides our children with a good level of challenge, giving them opportunities to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding across the curriculum.
Every year group will experience six imaginative learning projects in a year. Each individual project is split into sections, which see children progress through four stages of learning: Engage, Develop, Innovate and Express.
At the ‘Engage’ stage, children:

At Ormiston Meadows Academy our pupil’s learn about the six major religions celebrated in Great Britain. We celebrate the diversity and enjoy welcoming guest speakers to share their experiences as part of our whole school assemblies.
At Ormiston Meadows Academy as well as teaching stand alone Science lessons each week it is also an ongoing theme throughout the Cornerstones curriculum. Our pupils enjoy learning through a range of comprehensive science investigations, in line with the national curriculum, written and tested by Dr Fran Barnes. The experiments are designed to develop and improve children’s investigative skills and reinforce key subject knowledge.
